MECHWARRIOR ONLINE LEGENDS
JUNE 2023 PATCH NOTES

Patch Date and Time - June 20th 2023 @ 10AM – 1PM PDT
Version Number: v1.4.279.0
Size: 25 MB
Please note that due to compression differences the Steam patch size may be larger than the standalone client patch size.

Greetings MechWarriors!

It's already June and we hope everyone is having a great beginning to your summer (if that is applicable in your part of the world). Next month we have the release of the Stone Rhino, so be sure to pre-order yours today!

This patch features two new Legendary 'Mechs (the Quickdraw "Desperada" and the Timber Wolf "Howl"), 'Mech Quirk Adjustments, 'Mech Adjustments, Bug Fixes, and more!

Work on a brand new map continues, as do investigations into potential Matchmaker solutions, Faction Play, New Weapons, New 'Mechs, and bringing some sort of respawn (drop decks potentially) into Quick Play.

Speaking of the new map, here's a quick sneak peak (sorry, can't show more just yet!)...

Enjoy the upcoming Patch, look out for a post-Patch Science Sale, and jump into the Inner Sphere Light 'Mech Solaris Event and Sale, which includes a much-requested Cockpit Items Sale!

Updates are subject to further balance changes in the future, so get out there and do the science, and get us your feedback for future iterations.

Finally, we would like to remind everyone that MechWarrior Online in an inclusive community, and is for everyone! With that in mind, game chat conversations should primarily revolve around topics related to the game itself, the game's mechanics, strategies, and experiences. By keeping the chat on topic, we aim to create an inclusive and immersive space where players can connect, learn, and share their passion for the game.

And now, we really hope you enjoy the patch!
-The MechWarrior Online Team

PRE-ORDER THE NEW 'MECH CHASSIS: THE STONE RHINO

COMING NEXT MONTH!
We are thrilled to announce the long-awaited pre-order for the next brand new 'Mech chassis to MWO, the unstoppable Stone Rhino. This 'Mech is the single-most requested Clan 'Mech by the community, and embodies raw power and intimidation. A formidable 100-ton Clan war machine, the Stone Rhino boasts an abundance of impenetrable armor, and a weapons loadout that will make your enemies tremble in fear. Prepare to stomp your way onto the battlefield and unleash devastation upon your foes. Secure your pre-order today, and become a force to be reckoned with in MechWarrior Online!

PLEASE NOTE: REDEEM BATTLEPASS REWARDS ON THE WEBSITE STORE PAGE (UPDATED EVERY HOUR)

QUICKDRAW "DESPERADA" BATTLEPASS REDEEM LINK: https://mwomercs.com/legends/desperada
TIMBER WOLF "HOWL" BATTLEPASS REDEEM LINK: https://mwomercs.com/legends/howl

Two new Legendary 'Mechs this month include the assault Quickdraw "Desperada", and the assault Timber Wolf "Howl" (see images below). Each 'Mech will sell for $15 USD on the website, and will also be available on Steam. Each Legendary 'Mech is a new variant of an existing chassis, has a custom paint job, an "outlier" quirk, and a 30% C-Bill boost. Also included with each pack is the new mini battle pass system driven by 'Mech XP. Just by playing the 'Mech, you will earn GSP, C-Bills, MC, Premium Time, and exclusive Cockpit Items, Decals, Colors, and Bolt-Ons! However, unlike a typical battle pass system, there will be no expiration date to earn these extra items. Take as long as you need!

Patch Files (Direct Download)

To make the patching process easier for players with limited download caps, we'll be providing direct download links for the patch file(s) that comprise this patch. This will allow you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, for manual injection into the MWO patcher through a Patch Cache folder.

Aside from allowing you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, on another connection, there are no additional benefits to performing the patch this way; the patching process itself will be the same.

This direct patch download process will only work for players running the standalone client. It does not apply to players running MWO through Steam.

Patch File(s): - http://patcher.mwomercs.com/patch/Production/frontend/FrontendPatch_419.zip

  • Download the above file(s)
  • For sake of ease, we recommend creating a dedicated folder for the patch file(s), such as 'MWO Patch Cache'
  • You do not need to unzip or unpack the patch file(s)
  • Launch the MWO Portal
  • Select the three horizontal lines in the top left of the Portal Window
  • Choose the 'Specify Patch File Cache' option
  • In the field that appears, paste or enter the location in which you saved the patch file(s) and hit OK
  • For example, C:\Users\<username>\Documents\MWO Patch Cache
  • Click the blue Patch button
  • The launcher will now check the Patch Cache folder you defined. If it locates the required patch files, it will unpack and use those files to apply the patch
  • Once the patch is complete, launch the game

Pardon me, but why are the MechLab data images messed up? Also, why is the TimberWolf shown like a battlemech when we all know it's an OmniMech and should be able to swap choices of OmniPods like the other variants can? :excl:

A TBR that is not omni. Huh.

And a PPC Gauss QKD.

Well... not what I expected.

Probably not Omni because LGD. I mean, there are some Omnis that had Battlemech versions.

Inb4 its outlier is being a non-Omni.

Who knows? I just checked Sarna.net and their information shows that the TimberWolf has always been an OmniMech since creation. Further, there are already TBR-H & TBR-W variants in existence. The folks at PGI need to pick an alternate designator such as TBR-HW instead before it creates undue confusion. :(

So maybe I’m missing it entirely, but when is the actual release of the Stone Rhino?

Growl or Howl? It says one in the announcement and another on the image of the legendary TBR.

We don't have TBR-H though. Probably uses Jihad or later tech.

Max engine, MASC, SRMs/ATMs, JJs and LTAG or something. Sure.

Descriptions show that both the TBR-H & TBR-W actually do NOT use anything like Jihad Tech or later. Have a look @ https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Timberwolf for proof. Even the equipped MASC/JJs could be applied as a Fixed Equipment Object via an OmniPod-specific Quirk on the Left Torso Component instead of nerfing the TBR's "Howl" Variant so horrifyingly by taking away OmniPods that it should have access to. In particular, the MASC covers the SuperCharger's function anyway. And all that Ferro-Fibrous/Endo-Steel has rather well-defined locations that it's supposed to be Fixed Equipment on regardless of everything else. I'm sensing a real mess here. :(

It will happen with this June 20, 2023 Patch coming out at 10 AM PDT and knocking everyone offline. They've changed the Pre-Order Extras to be available after the introduction for a little while, which really is a good move. :)

I think we can both sense the incoming Nerf on that one! ^_^

...It being a Battlemech and not an Omni isn't a nerf. That's a straight up buff. It has decent hardpoints. That range quirk is pretty bonkers.

That is a narrow mentality about the HardPoints and such being a Buff there... What if someone wants their TimberWolf "Howl" Legendary to be re-outfitted as a Laser-boat or a hybrid of Ballistics & Lasers instead? What about those who want PPCs on their Legendary perhaps? This is literally slapping those people across the face and telling them not to buy this Variant at all, and that's bad for PGI's business! No, this change to a BattleMech and disallowing being the OmniMech which it should be is a straight-up HARD NERF and an insult to the TimberWolf Chassis's spirit in general! Heck, they could have put part of the Missile HardPoints out on the Arms to the order of making enjoyable new Modeling for people's utilization, but violating the very heart of the TimberWolf's form/design/configurability is an absolute sad insult. :(

~D. V. "making a battlemech of an Omni like the TimberWolf is simply wrong" Devnull

Okay, two questions. Why a Light PPC HSL +2 on the Desparada when there are only 4 energy hardpoints and Light PPC HSL is normally 3? Is the Howl a battlemech, not an omnimech?

Interesting to see a BattleMech Timber Wolf. Looks like someone really wanted to use all those slots. Posted Image

Now not to sound like a broken record. Are there any plans to remove or alter the Solaris achievements in-game and within Steam?

Cicada 3m changes look good. Now my 3x er large counter sniper fit is even more fun.

cda-3m

I'm going to assume the +2 lppc hsl is for the gauss rifle. Interesting if this works on other mechs with a ppc hsl and a ballistic slot to avoid gauss/ppc ghost heat.

K, you want one possible solution to MM? Make PSR down happen way faster. I'm really sick of this. I don't give a damn about shiny gold 1s, I'm sick of having to run bleeding-edge meta friendly **** to keep up. I want the game to be fun and this is a slog with half my matches being against people who should have had their PSR uncapped a long time ago. Being irrelevant cannon fodder isn't ******* fun.

You have the option instead of considering changes to your playstyle, rather than just assuming specific builds are needed to be above average. I've spectated you a couple of times, I'm not entirely sure your build is the thing that is keeping you from your full potential.

For most of us outside of the actual comp players - just not building a potato mech will work fine if you don't play like a potato. There's lot of room to experiment within broad design concepts and still be useful if you can position and shoot accurately with a functional DPS in a range bracket the mech is fast enough to use. Maybe consider joining something like Ashcord and asking for guidance on playstyle, rather than insisting the MM is designed specifically to punish your playstyle.

Can we change omnipods on Howl? and if yes how does ferro and endo slots work and move around? Because those are very far from standard locked slots...

That extra 80% range also creeps max damage range almost to 450 meters and max range to almost 2km... might be good mech
